Fair isle Guide

Fair Isle is one of the Shetland Islands and the most remote inhabited island in the UK. Although small at only 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, it has a huge character and friendly island community of around 50 permanent residents. The island is owned by the National Trust for Scotland with the social, ecological and economic growth of the isle supported by the Fair Isle Development Company.

Come and explore the beautiful isle! Browse the stunning scenery, wildlife and auroras captured through the seasons in the gallery. You can also watch award winning crime writer Ann Cleeves sharing why she loves Fair Isle and join video creator Ruth Aisling as she explores the island.
