This traditional crofter’s cottage has been in the Wilson family for many generations. My father was raised in the cottage and his father was born there. location & facilities

Springfield Cottage is situated on the south east coast of the island with a beautiful view out to sea. You can also see the South Lighthouse and island Chapel from the garden as well as view the other crofts across the rolling fields.

• It has two double bedrooms with traditional furniture, digital TVs and fresh bed linen, combining authenticity with modern convenience and comfort. There is also a folding double bed included to allow a maximum of 6 guests to stay.
• The cottage boasts a cosy open-plan living room come dining kitchen with multi-fuel stove.
• Although traditional in character, it has all the modern appliances you will need for a comfortable stay including a fully equipped kitchen, large wall mounted digital TV, library of books and even a dram of whisky to enjoy.
• The bathroom includes a walk-in shower with fresh towels provided. There is also a laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and steam iron.
• There is oil central heating throughout the property, wind-generated electricity and fibre broadband.
• The cottage has its own private garden with rotary airier, picnic table and bench to relax, admire the scenery and enjoy the fresh sea air.

self-catering

Springfield Cottage is available to book on a self-catering basis. Stackhoull Stores is Fair Isle’s local shop which is well stocked with food, drinks, toiletries and other provisions. The Post Office is also housed within the store and is the only location on the island where cash can be withdrawn.

The opening times are:

Mon 9:30-12:30 & 14:00-16:30

Wed 9:30-16:30 & 14:00-16:30

Fri 9:30-12:30

Sat 9:30-12:30

Price & Availability

Springfield Cottage is available to book exclusively for £145 per night plus VAT (£174 inclusive). Check-in is normally from 2pm and check-out by 11am. However, there may be some flexibility around times according to the island’s ferry and flight schedules on the day.

Please remember that travel to and from Fair Isle by sea and air can be disrupted by weather conditions, so some flexibility is required for dates and times of arrival and departure. I am always happy to help guests with adjusting the timing of travel plans around weather conditions and transport schedules.

Due to high demand the cottage is fully booked for 2026, but I am now accepting bookings for 2027 onwards. To check availability and make a reservation, please follow the booking process below.

STEP 1: Choose your dates and complete the booking form.

Click on the ‘Book Now’ button below to check availability of the cottage, select your dates*, complete the booking form and choose how to pay.

Choose how much to pay today:

If your arrival date is at least 3 months away*, you will have 2 payment options:

Option 1: Pay a 25% deposit today and the 75% final balance 3 months before you arrive.

Option 2: Pay in full today.

*Note: If your arrival date is less that 3 months away, you will need to pay in full today.

You also have the option to pay by Bank Transfer or via my PayPal* checkout, which offers several ways to pay:

• Pay with PayPal
• Pay in 3 interest free payments with PayPal
• Pay with Apple Pay
• Pay with a bank or credit card

*You do not need to have a PayPal account to use this option, you can checkout as a guest.

STEP 2: Pay a 25% deposit or in full to complete your booking.

Once you submit your booking form you will be transferred to a checkout page to complete the booking process.

STEP 3: Receive your booking confirmation and receipt.

You will receive an email confirming the details of your booking and receipt for your payment.

STEP 4: Pay the 75% final balance 3 months before you arrive.

If you have opted to pay a 25% deposit at the time of booking, you will be emailed an invoice with payment link 3 months before your arrival to pay the 75% final balance. You will receive a receipt via email to confirm your payment.

STEP 5: Complimentary transfers.

I will liaise with you around the time of your arrival and arrange complimentary transport to collect you from Fair Isle’s harbour or airport. I will also arrange complimentary return transport to the island’s harbour or airport for you.
